UTC SENTINEL® COMPONENTS


In-depth research and design along with leading edge technology has produced a sophisticated unit capable of controlling multiple urinals simultaneously. Easy push button programming and a large LED display add to user convenience. Flexible programming options allow for settings to accommodate any restroom environment. It can be remotely mounted in any convenient location out of view of restroom patrons, including adjacent spaces such as the pipe chase, janitor closets, mechanical rooms or above the ceiling. The controller displays a continuous operations status and tracks the number of flushes to aid in consumption analysis. The controller is assembled following ISO 9001 protocols in one of the most modern electronics facilities in the world.
  


The UTC Sentinel® includes a high quality passive infrared motion sensor which continuously monitors the urinals for use. The sensor activation range can be "fine tuned" to ensure activation only after urinal use, eliminating false flushes. This sensor can be surface mounted on the ceiling or recessed behind a return air grille in the ceiling for increased vandalism resistance.  

The UTC Sentinel® utilizes a high quality solenoid valve.  Its slow activation feature eliminates water hammering.  Extra-long service life and low maintenance are features of the heavy-duty design and construction.  The solenoid valve is installed in the main urinal supply line for new construction and flush valve retrofits, or in the tank for urinal tank retrofits.

 
UTC SENTINEL® STAGES OF OPERATION
 

 

 





 

Programmable from 1 hour to 99 hours
The function of this stage is to flush the urinals after a programmed period of time - even if the motion sensor is not activated.
 
Programmable from 1 to 99 minutes
The purpose of this stage is to prevent the urinals from being flushed after each and every time the urinal is used.
 
Programmable from 1 to 99 seconds
This stage determines how long the solenoid valve will stay open to properly flush the urinals.

Note:  Once set, each of these three programmed values is retained in the memory of the UTC Sentinel® controller. Should there be a power interruption, these times will be stored in memory until the power resumes.
 
 
FINAL OVERVIEW


Stage 1 is the UTC Controller default position.

When a person stands in front of a urinal, the overhead passive infrared motion sensor recognizes the user and sends a signal to the remote UTC Sentinel® Controller and Stage 2 countdown is initiated.

Stage 2 - Delay before flushing begins.

NOTE: Stage 2 countdown period is NOT interrupted should other urinal users arrive during the countdown.

When Stage 2 countdown reaches zero, then the controller initiates Stage 3.

Stage 3 Flushing of the urinals.

Stage 3 opens the solenoid valve and flushes the urinals thoroughly.

Note:  The length of the flush is determined in the field during the installation of the UTC Controller.  Simple programming instructions are provided.  Factory assistance is also available if needed.

After flushing, the UTC Controller returns to Stage 1.
